There’s something about September that always feels like a fresh start.
The mornings become a little cooler, the evenings begin drawing in, and suddenly staying home with a candle lit and a cup of something warm feels exactly where we want to be.
It’s not quite the depths of autumn yet. There are still those beautiful late-summer afternoons and golden evenings to enjoy, but there’s a definite change in the air.
Cosy season is on its way.
And at The View Interiors, this might just be our favourite time of year.
The September Reset
September has always had that new notebook feeling about it.
Even long after the school years are behind us, there’s something about this month that makes us want to reset. To get organised, return to routines and make home feel calm and comforting ahead of the busier months to come.
It doesn't have to mean a complete overhaul.
Sometimes it's simply clearing a surface that's become cluttered, writing down your plans for the month, refreshing a little corner of your home or bringing back those evening rituals that disappeared during summer.
A small reset can make home feel completely different.
Slowly Bringing Autumn In
We don't believe you need to transform your home the moment September arrives.
Instead, let the seasons change gradually.
Start bringing in warmer textures. Add deeper, earthy tones alongside your existing décor. Swap fresh summer fragrances for something a little richer. Style a favourite vase with seasonal stems or add a beautiful decorative piece to a shelf or coffee table.
It's those small details that gently shift the mood of a room.
Think warm lighting, natural textures, ceramics, cosy corners and pieces that make you happy to be home.
Candle Season Has Entered the Chat
Of course, September also marks the unofficial return of candle season.
There is something incredibly comforting about lighting a candle as the evening starts to draw in. It's such a tiny ritual, but one that instantly tells your brain that the working day is over and it's time to slow down.
Light one while you're cooking dinner.
Take one into the bathroom while you have a long bath.
Or simply light your favourite fragrance, put your phone down and spend an hour enjoying your home.
Cosiness doesn't need to be complicated.
Back to Routine – But Make It Gentle
September can also bring a return to fuller diaries, busier working weeks and that feeling that Christmas will somehow be here before we've even had chance to unpack our knitwear.
This year, we're choosing a slightly slower approach.
A weekly planner, a few priorities and a little breathing room can go a long way. Rather than filling every available space, we're making room for the things that make everyday life feel good too.
The coffee enjoyed while it's still hot.
A walk when the evening is golden.
Fresh bedding.
A tidy kitchen before bed.
Ten minutes with a notebook.
An early night when you need one.
These aren't big things, but perhaps that's exactly the point.
Here's to Cosy Season
So, hello September.
Here's to the first knitwear days, candles flickering in the evening, Sunday resets, slower mornings, seasonal styling and rediscovering the joy of simply being at home.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing plenty of inspiration for the season ahead – from autumn interiors and cosy little rituals to stationery, styling ideas and some new finds for The View.
For now, we're easing into it.
The kettle's on, the candle's lit and cosy season can officially begin.
Love,
